Uber to launch ‘Dine Out’ discounts feature in Sydney

The feature lets Uber Eats users find restaurant deals and book a ride there directly in the app.

Uber has unveiled its new feature called Dine Out, which will roll out in Sydney in June.

The feature adds a section to the Uber Eats app where users can find and claim in-person dining discounts at restaurants, along with an option to book an Uber ride to get there.

“I am proud to be able to launch this technology for Australian small business owners in Sydney first, though as a proud Melburnian I’ve assured my friends and family that the plan is to launch in Victoria in the coming months,” said Ed Kitchen, managing director of Uber Eats Australia and New Zealand.

The announcement follows news that Uber Eats and OpenTable will be teaming up to enhance the dine-in experience.

The lineup will include existing partners already using Uber Eats, as well as new restaurants that do not have an online food delivery presence.

Sydney restaurants will be available on day one. Catalina, Fabbrica, Wings and Tins, Malabar, Employees Only, and Raw Bar are all expected to be online at launch.
