AI vision tools boost speed and accuracy in UAE QSRs

It’s helping quick-service restaurants protect margins.

The UAE’s quick-service restaurant (QSR) market is projected to surpass $25 billion by 2033, and operators are turning to vision-enabled operations—AI-powered camera systems that go beyond surveillance—to keep pace.

“What used to be a passive security camera, they're now becoming smart sensors powered by AI so that proactively flags when a drive thru line is backing up, for instance, or a table hasn't been cleared, or self service kiosks are idle for too long,” said Rob Ward, International Account Executive at Solink.

Ward said the technology acts like “smart assistants” that alert managers before small issues become guest complaints. Integrated with point-of-sale systems and drive-thru timers, they validate transactions, track preparation times, and even confirm whether wrong-order claims are accurate.

For margin-conscious restaurants, Ward stressed the tools are “not only viable, they're one of the smartest investments a QSR can make right now.”

Solink works with existing cameras, avoiding costly hardware replacement, and functions reliably even in low bandwidth locations. Its AI analytics can catch theft, reduce food waste, verify service times, and automate audits—often paying for itself in weeks.

With the market booming, Ward noted that brands like McDonald’s are adopting AI menus, drive-thru automation, and ghost kitchens. “Restaurants will need technology that doesn't just record what's happening, but actually helps prevent problems at the moment,” he said. “That's the power of vision enabled operations.”
