1 in 2 plans to visit a pub or restaurant during Christmas season

At least one in five plan to visit on Christmas Eve.

One in two are planning to visit either a pub or restaurant during the Christmas season, with at least one in five planning to visit on Christmas Eve, according to the KAM – Christmas 2023 report.

19% of consumers have already started planning how to spend the holiday season, with one in 10 already having a reservation in either a pub or restaurant, an increase of one percentage point compared to last year.

Meanwhile, 27% would rather plan for Christmas in December. Those who do are more likely consumers without kids or those who identify as male.

Despite almost half planning to visit a pub or restaurant, 34% said they intend to spend less on eating out during the festive period.

36% said they will attend a Christmas party at a hospitality venue whilst 38% intend to visit a venue with a group of 12 or more.
