Chipotle UK launches BOGO offer for people with tattoos
Fans with both permanent or temporary tattoos or even drawn-on designs can avail the offer.
Chipotle is offering buy one get one free deals for anyone who has a tattoo, a nod to the Friday the 13th ‘flash tattoo tradition’ on 13 March.
A Friday the 13th “flash tattoo” tradition is when tattoo shops offer pre-drawn, small tattoos called flash at discounted prices on Friday the 13th. It comes from tattoo shop culture and the superstition around Friday the 13th. The idea is partly about fun, partly about turning an “unlucky” day into a good one.
The offer is open to anyone with permanent ink, a temporary tattoo, or even a drawn-on design to claim a free meal starting from 3 PM to 4 PM across all Chipotle UK restaurants.
“What began as a ‘tatted like a Chipotle bag’ meme has grown into a genuine fan movement,” said Anat Davidzon, Managing Director, International. “With a quarter of UK adults having tattoos, this felt like a fun and fitting way to celebrate individuality and creativity with our fans.”
As part of the promotion, Chipotle is partnering with tatted Chipotle superfan Swae Lee of Rae Sremmurd. Tapping into the “2026 is the new 2016” nostalgia trend, the collaboration will feature content with one of the artist's most viral anthems from the era.
The partnership follows the announcement of Swae Lee’s “FLAMMABLE” – the first single off his long-awaited debut solo LP SAME DIFFERENCE – out 3rd April.
The phrase “tatted like a Chipotle bag” first gained traction during the 2019 professional American football championship halftime performance when fans on social media compared the headline performer’s tattoos to the artwork on Chipotle’s to-go bags. The viral moment has since inspired fun, original content across various platforms.
