Saudi chain Albaik dominates the KSA fast food market

It has outperformed its global rivals such as McDonald’s and KFC.

Albaik is the top fast food brand amongst frequenters in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), according to YouGov’s latest quick-service restaurant (QSR) report.

The homegrown chain led with a consideration rate of 58.1%, ahead of competitors like Al-Tazaj (35.6%), McDonald’s (29.4%), KFC (28.2%), and Kudu (22.9%).

The rankings remained consistent when looking at the general Saudi population, with Albaik (59.4%) still in first place.

The report also found that 37% of fast food frequenters order takeaway or delivery more than once a week, which is much higher than the 21% average across the general population.

When choosing new places to eat, regular fast food consumers are influenced most by what they see on social media and the availability of dietary options, both at 28%, whilst a quarter said sustainability and ethical concerns affect their decisions.

The report defines "frequenters" as people who eat fast food several times a week or more.
