3 in 4 hospitality workers struggle with mental health

The top challenges were long hours and the cost of living crisis.

Three in four or 75% of restaurant owners, managers, and staff said their mental health was suffering at present, a survey by UK restaurant software management and booking business, Favouritetable revealed.

The survey was conducted by Favouritetable by reaching out to several hundred of its restaurateur clients and other business owners to help shed light on the mental health challenges facing hospitality industry workers.

According to Jaipal Yadav, Founder of Favouritetable, respondents cited a range of factors contributing to their struggles, including financial pressures, staff management issues, and the relentless pace of the industry.

“Running a restaurant is not just about serving food; it's about managing a complex business in an incredibly competitive landscape,” Jaipal adds. Our survey has highlighted the profound impact that the demands of the hospitality sector can have on the mental health and wellbeing of restaurateurs. I believe this is a wake-up call for the industry and for policymakers to take action and provide support to those who are struggling,” Yadav said.
