Fast food brands unveils crazy new products for April Fools

Brands hop on the April Fool's Day trends with various ‘innovative’ products.

The first day of April is a day of pranks and brands have been known to showcase ‘innovative’ and never before seen products.

Sometimes, due to popularity, these products become part of the menu sometime down the road like Subway's SubDogs.

Here are several of this year’s April Fool's products by fast-food brands.

Cereal pizza

Domino’s announced that it is entering into a new menu range for its day part: cereals.

Made with twice cooked pizza dough for extra crunch, succulent pieces of pepperoni and gooey mozzarella, Domino’s unveils the new Domin-O’s.

 

 

According to Domino’s ANZ Chief Marketing Officer Allan Collins, the new cereal is another way for pizza lovers to enjoy breakfast.

“Pushing the boundaries of flavour and fun is in our DNA. This time around, Domino’s has really thought outside the box and we’re confident that Domin-O’s will truly ‘bowl’ our customers’ minds,” Collins said.

According to Domino’s Head of New Product Development & Innovation Michael Treacy, this brings a whole new meaning to quick and easy. 

Footlong Fairy Bread

For its April Fool’s Day prank, Subway introduced the new Footlong Fairy Bread.

The ‘new’ range is Subway’s reinvention of a childhood party favourite.

A Subway spokesperson said the ‘Footlong Fairy Bread is a delightful fusion of childhood nostalgia and Subway’s fresh thinking, creating a feel-good experience for guests.’

“As hot cross buns start to leave store shelves, they can now sub in our Footlong Fairy Bread as the perfect sweet treat.”

Shower gel

Inspired by its authentic hot sauces, Mad Mex unveils its new Habanero and Verde Shower Gel.

According to the brand’s Facebook post, the ‘new product’ is guaranteed to help users wake up after a shower by delivering a tantalising burst of heat that will awaken customers’ senses and leave them running out the door. 

“The Verde shower gel on the other end is the perfect complement to the end of a long day, with the mild burn perfect for a relaxing evening. Like our hot sauce, it’s made with all-natural ingredients and free from harsh chemicals. It has an unforgettable fragrance that is guaranteed to linger delicately on your skin leaving you feeling energised and ready for the day,” Mad Mex said.

No Joke promotion

Meanwhile, Krispy Kreme is not joking around with its April Fool’s Day promotion.

 

Anyone visiting in their store will have to present their You Bring It We Glaze It social media post to get a free original glazed doughnut, no purchase necessary.
