Popeyes targets opening 30 new restaurants and first travel hub in 2024
This will double its UK estate.
Fast food chicken chain Popeyes is targeting to open 30 new locations in the UK before the end of the year, one of which will be its first-ever travel hub restaurant in London Waterloo station.
The brand, which entered the UK in November 2021, currently has 36 locations, including 5 drive-thrus, plus 7 delivery kitchens across the UK. It plans for over 30 new openings in the next 12 months, taking its total number of restaurants to over 60 by December 2024.
New restaurants in Ilford and Hammersmith will be opening their doors this week, on the 22 and 29 January respectively. Upcoming openings include:
- Bishop Auckland
- Exeter
- Bury New Rd
- Glasgow Sauchiehall
- Aberdeen Union St
- Nottingham Teal
- Aberdeen
- Swansea
- Birmingham
The Birmingham location, which will be a delivery kitchen, is the first site in Birmingham for Popeyes - with more sites to follow as expansion continues.
The brand is also planning to roll out its breakfast menu nationwide in February.
The news comes after TDR Capital took a controlling interest in Popeyes.
