Burger King South Korea causes stir over ‘discontinued’ Whopper
Burger King said it is ending the sale of the Whopper in South Korea.
Burger King South Korea announced early on 8 April, through its website and mobile messenger KakaoTalk, that starting 14 April it will ‘discontinue the sale of the Whopper, causing a stir amongst consumers.
“It is true that we are ending the sale of the Whopper, which has been operated for 40 years. Please look forward to various promotions prepared by Burger King to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Whopper,” a statement on Burger King South Korea’s website stated.

According to new reports, consumers were confused, thinking that this was an extension of an April Fool’s prank however Burger King later published another statement reiterating that it is ‘ending the sale of the Whopper’ without any clarification on the matter.
BKR, the South Korean operator of Burger King, has not released any official statement on the matter.
New recipe
On Monday, Burger King unveiled that it has changed the recipe for the Whopper. The new Whopper features a stronger flame-grilled, taste, new salt and pepper seasoning, and a new bun.
