Itsu restaurant future still unclear despite HWS rescue deal

The brand was acquired by Directional Capital.

Some Itsu restaurants remain closed despite the acquisition of Heart with Smart by Directional Capital in a pre-pack transaction which sees the transfer and continuing operation of 139 Pizza Hut restaurants across the UK.

Heart with Smart, which also operates a few Itsu restaurants aside from Pizza Huts, appointed Interpath Advisory as administrators last November.

“With the acquisition by Directional Capital announced today, the future of the business has been secured with a strong platform in place,” Jens Hofma, CEO of Heart with Smart, said.

Though its Pizza Hut franchises seem to have remained safe for the time being, the future of some of its Itsu restaurants still remains unclear with some restaurants bearing close signs as the company ‘sorted things out.’
