Starbucks trials scheduled ordering in the US
The trial starts on 11 May across North America.
Starting 11 May, Starbucks will launch a scheduled ordering feature across North America where its Mobile Order & Pay services are available.
The new feature allows customers to schedule pick-up of their drinks at a specific time, up to an hour ahead, instead of immediate pickup.
For moments that require a bit more planning, customers can schedule ahead around meetings, classes or busy days. And for those moments when plans change, customers can continue ordering the way they always have.
Pickup times will reflect real-time availability at each coffeehouse using Starbucks’ Smart Queue algorithm, which automatically sequences and balances orders across café, Drive Thru, and Mobile Order & Pay.
According to the brand, the goal is to help customers navigate their busy days by helping them choose their preferred timing.
As more customers use the Starbucks® app to help navigate busy days, timing has become just as important as convenience.
Availability of scheduled ordering will vary upon rollout.
