Scotland bakery sweet spending up 4.6% to £261m
Bread rolls, flatbreads, and sausage rolls are seeing the fastest growth.
Scotland’s sweet bakery market is now valued at £261m, with consumer spending up by 4.6% year-on-year (YoY), according to Scottish Bakers’ Future of Bakery report.
Both total bakery and total grocery spend performance stood at 2.8%.
Spending on savoury bakery products also rose, up 3% YoY, closely behind total grocery growth, which is up 3.4% in Scotland.
Whilst Bread accounts for 31% of the category’s volume, the strongest growth is being driven by Bread Rolls, Flatbreads, and Sausage Rolls.
The findings are based on data from a UK-wide NIQ consumer panel of 30,000 households and a separate survey of over 500 Scottish bakery shoppers carried out by the research firm TRKR.
