Church’s Texas Chicken enters China with 600-outlet franchise deal
It plans to open its first outlet in Shanghai in summer 2026.
Church's Texas Chicken, also known as Texas Chicken in other countries, is entering China as part of its international expansion, adding the country as its 27th market.
The company plans to open its first outlet in Shanghai in summer 2026, with more locations expected afterwards.
For its China rollout, Texas Chicken has signed a franchise agreement with local operator Deke Shengtang, which manages several quick-service restaurant brands.
The agreement covers the development of at least 600 outlets across the country over the coming years.
The company says this is its largest international development deal so far, indicating a long-term bet on the Chinese market.
The move follows the brand’s recent expansion in Europe and other regions in 2025.
The brand operates under two names depending on the market. “Church’s Texas Chicken” is used in the US and some regions where the name is already established.
In other countries, it operates as “Texas Chicken,” reflecting local market preferences and considerations around the use of the word “church.”
Further details on store design, locations, and future openings are expected closer to the launch.
