Gami Chicken grows sales 18% amidst rise in cost-conscious dining
The brand will launch more set menu options and combo deals for value seekers.
Casual dining chain Gami Chicken plans to launch more set menus, combo deals, and creative pairings to attract value-seeking diners amid cost-conscious consumer trends.
The brand highlighted a report by IbisWorld that Australians dine out an average of 38 times a year, and the demand for value-led, convenient meal options is intensifying. For younger diners aged 16 to 24, more than half eat out at least once a week, highlighting a key market segment that continues to prioritise food experiences even as they watch their wallets.
At the same time, takeaway is resurging as a preferred option over delivery, with consumers ordering to pick up in person 32 times a year on average, compared to 28 times for delivery, a shift driven by the desire to avoid rising delivery fees.
These trends are proving fruitful for Korean fast-casual restaurant Gami Chicken, which reported an 18% year-on-year growth in its Korean Delights menu offering. Jun Lee, Executive Director at Gami Chicken, attributes this rise to a clear understanding of the evolving dining landscape.
“For a restauranteur, cost-conscious dining is about understanding the market and making informed choices with menu options that reflect the consumer’s demand for authentic flavours and quality meals at good value prices,” said Lee.
Gami has responded by expanding its healthier, more versatile offerings, including the introduction of dishes such as Bibimbap, Beef Bulgogi Hotpot and Seoul Tteokbokki — options that retain Korean authenticity whilst aligning with health-focused and time-sensitive consumer lifestyles.
“The continued rise of K-culture in Australia has created a wonderful platform for us to introduce our offering to mainstream markets. We aim to make quality Korean food accessible, convenient, and a favourite of every household,” Lee said.
The brand’s response to changing consumer behaviours has gone beyond the menu. Gami is investing in experiential dining formats, loyalty rewards, and restaurant redesigns that blend vibrant modern aesthetics with Korean tradition.
Founded in Melbourne in 2006, Gami Chicken now has 30 locations nationwide.
