McDonald’s Korea adds voice guidance service in self-serve kiosks

This is the first time in Asia that this service was added.

McDonald’s Korea has upgraded its self-service kiosk to include a voice guidance service for a few of its restaurants in Seoul to help improve accessibility for visually impaired customers, a report by Yonhap said.

15 McDonald’s restaurants near social welfare agencies for the visually impaired and schools for the blind were installed with voice guidance software and touchpads. Customers need only plug their personal earphones into the kiosks and hear voice prompts.

The installation of the voice guidance service in South Korea is McDonald’s second after the United States and is a first in Asia.

Plans to expand the service throughout all of its restaurants are currently underway.
