Delivery to account for 25% of Asia Pacific foodservice by 2030—Euromonitor

Asia holds 40% of global foodservice sales.

Asia Pacific foodservice delivery reached $303b, with its share rising from 16% in 2020 to 22% in 2025, and projected to grow further to 25% by 2030, according to the latest data from Euromonitor.

Asia holds 40% of global foodservice sales, with an expected compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 4.8% between 2025 and 2030.

Consumer foodservice in Asia Pacific reached $1.3t in value sales in 2025. Globally and in Asia Pacific, one in five dollars of foodservice is now fulfilled through delivery.

Southeast Asia and China are key growth markets for delivery. China sees delivery accounting for 27% of foodservice sales in 2025. Indonesia, Vietnam, and Thailand are the top countries for the delivery market sector in SEA, with a CAGR of 13%, 10% and 9%, respectively.

Euromonitor also said that Asia Pacific’s share of eat-in has stabilised following the pandemic and makes up in 62% of foodservice sales in 2025, dropping from 66% in 2020. The forecast market will see a modest CAGR of 2% to 2030.

The share of takeaways decreased from 18% in 2020 to 14% in 2025, as delivery costs remain low in major markets like China, leaving digital takeaway a niche option.  Takeaways’ share in Asia Pacific is likely to further decrease, stabilising at 13% in 2030.

This shift comes as the delivery market enters a period of consolidation, with platforms reassessing profitability and narrowing their geographic footprints.

Deliveroo’s exit from Singapore and Menulog’s departure from Australia reflect a broader “delivery reset,” where subscale players struggle to compete against dominant platforms with stronger logistics networks and higher order density, according to Momentum Works.

In Singapore, Deliveroo’s market share fell from 24% in 2020 to 7% in 2025, whilst Grab now holds roughly two-thirds of the market, highlighting how scale increasingly determines success.

Momentum Works added that the next phase of food delivery in Asia Pacific will prioritise portfolio discipline, operational efficiency, and localisation rather than aggressive expansion.

Superapp ecosystems, rising operational costs, and intensifying competition are pushing platforms to focus on markets where they can achieve sustainable profitability, with consolidation expected to continue as the delivery landscape matures across the region.
