Fast food outlets top Singapore F&B growth in May 2026
Overall F&B sales were flat compared to the year before.
Fast food outlets remained Singapore's fastest-growing food and beverage segment in May 2026, posting a 2.6% year-on-year increase in sales despite overall industry growth stalling.
According to the Singapore Department of Statistics, overall sales of F&B services were flat compared to a year earlier, unchanged from the subdued pace recorded in April. On a seasonally adjusted month-on-month basis, total F&B sales declined 0.6%.
Restaurants also recorded annual growth of 1.8%, whilst food caterers rose 1.9%. In contrast, food courts and other eating places posted the steepest decline, with sales falling 5.3%, whilst cafes slipped 0.5%.
The total value of F&B sales in May was estimated at $1.32b (S$1.7b). Online sales accounted for 19.8% of total turnover, slightly lower than the 19.9% recorded in April.
On a seasonally adjusted month-on-month basis, fast food outlets saw sales decline 3.7%, following April's strong increase. Food caterers fell 2.8%, whilst food courts and other eating places slipped 1.1%.
Meanwhile, cafes and restaurants recorded modest monthly gains of 1.2% and 0.3%, respectively.
