Singapore launches six-month pilot of AI-powered kitchen

The tech aims to resolve the manpower shortage and increase consumer receptivity.

Singapore-based foodtech firm Aikit will launch a six-month pilot programme of ChefGenie, an AI-powered automated kitchen solution, on 9 September at Punggol Digital District.

ChefGenie is designed to cook freshly prepared meals around the clock and automate backend processes such as stock tracking, demand forecasting, and menu adjustments to help F&B operators address manpower shortages, rising costs, and consistency challenges.

The pilot, backed by Enterprise Singapore, a statutory board under the Ministry of Trade and Industry of the Government of Singapore, will trial autonomous kitchens as a manpower-lean expansion format for F&B companies and test consumer receptivity to such concepts.

The testing will be conducted in partnership with eight homegrown brands, namely Warong Pak Sapari, Springleaf Prata, Eat Pizza, Shihlin Taiwan Street Snacks, Takagi Ramen, Tuk Tuk Cha, The Hainan Story, and Instachef in Singapore.
