McDonald's taps Old Chang Kee for National Day curry burgers
The lineup includes a rendang beef burger and curry-seasoned shaker fries.
McDonald’s Singapore is partnering with snack and beverage chain Old Chang Kee on a new menu featuring curry on National Day.
According to Drina Chee, senior director, marketing and digital customer experience at McDonald’s Singapore, curry has always held a special place for Singaporeans, with McDonald’s Curry Sauce a favourite amongst generations of fans.
“For Singapore’s 61st Birthday, we wanted to celebrate that love for curry in a way that feels uniquely Singaporean,” said Chee. “Partnering with Old Chang Kee, a brand synonymous with curry puff for many Singaporeans, felt like a natural fit. Together, we’ve created two burgers that bring together the distinct curry flavours both brands are known for, resulting in a familiar yet exciting experience that we can’t wait for our customers to enjoy.”
The Curry Potato Chicken Burger stacks a curry potato filling and a fried egg over a crispy chicken patty, with a double-patty option for those wanting more. The Rendang Curry Beef Burger takes a bolder route, coating its beef patties in rendang sauce and layering them over a fried egg finished with onions, also available as a single or double.
Rounding out the savoury line-up are the Curry McShaker Fries, McDonald's fries tossed in a curry seasoning developed with Old Chang Kee.
On the sweet side, the Pineapple Coconut Pie pairs pineapple and coconut in a crisp fried pastry, whilst the Sweet Potato Mochi Balls offer a chewy sweet potato centre in a golden fried crust. For something cooler, the Mango Soft Serve comes as a cone, twist or ChocoCone, or dressed up as a sundae or McFlurry with hot fudge, strawberry sauce or Oreo.
McDonald’s will also be relaunching its Curry Sauce, which will be available for purchase with every meal.
