Pizza Hut issues statement on $2.5m penalty over spam messages sent in 2023

The brand said it sincerely apologised to everyone who was contacted without consent.

Pizza Hut published a statement after being penalised $2.5m following an investigation by the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA).

“We sincerely apologise to everyone who was contacted without their consent. A system error led to this problem, we would never knowingly seek to cause inconvenience to our customers. We are committed to working with the ACMA and an independent consultant to review and improve our marketing communication practices, in line with the legislation and our customers’ expectations,” a Pizza Hut spokesperson said.
