Birds Bakery reports 15.1% revenue growth amidst rebranding, food-to-go investments

The company said it doesn’t have any external borrowings.

Birds Bakery reported a 15.1% increase in revenue, with sales increasing to £33.6m in 2023 from £29.2m in 2022 attributable to the gradual return of high street traffic.

“However, we have also faced intense pricing pressure due to the effects of the war in Ukraine on food prices in the UK. This has forced us to increase our sales prices to maintain the high quality of our products. Despite these challenges, our efforts have paid off,” the bakery chain said in its business report.

The brand also attributed its growth to its investments for its future growth particularly its rebranding when Birds Bakery launched its first rebranded location on 18 January. It also attributed its success to its food-to-go investments, replacing its ovens and coffee machines.

In June, Birds Bakery named 200 Degrees Coffee as its exclusive partner, with the brand having all of its East Midlands bakeries only serving coffee from the specialist coffee roasters.

Birds Bakery plans to continue with its rebranding plans and expects to trade 7 days a week starting Q4 2024.
