US vegan burger joint Mr. Charlie to come to Australia

Its first restaurant will open in Redfern.

Vegan burger restaurant Mr. Charlie will be opening soon in Australia.

In a social media post, the restaurant shared that in a few short weeks, it will be opening its doors in Redfern.

“Why Redfern? Because we are a company on a mission to create change, and where better to start than by aiding our indigenous communities? We are proud to be teaming up with some incredible charities and brand partners who are creating opportunity for the Aboriginal people,” the post said.

Often referred to as the ‘Vegan McDonald’s’, Mr. Charlie’s first opened in Los Angeles last year, causing a stir because of its resemblance to the fast-food giant. It also uses red and yellow branding and offers what it calls ‘Frowny Meals’.
