Macca’s top pick by Aussies: survey

International brands dominated the survey.

McDonald's tops YouGov’s 2023 QSR Rankings in Australia with a Consideration score of 35.7.

Aside from  McDonald’s other international fast-food brands also dominated the top five with KFC taking the second spot (with a score of 34.9), followed by Subway (32.7), and Domino’s Pizza rounded off the top five (21.2). 

Hungry Jack’s, the Australian franchise of Burger King Corporation, took fourth place (26.6), and McDonald’s coffee and food & beverage chain McCafé achieved occupied sixth place, with a score of 18.9.  

The rest of the list featured domestic brands. Baker’s Delight took the seventh spot (18.8), followed by Australia’s healthy burgers restaurant chain- Grill’d, which ranked eighth (18.0). Red Rooster ranked ninth (17.6) and The Coffee Club rounded off the top ten rankings in Australia (16.8).

In this report, the brands are ranked according to the Brand Consideration score – which is determined by asking consumers “When you are in the market next to eat/drink at a Casual Dining and Beverage outlet, from which of the following brands would you consider?” 

The report involves seven APAC markets including Australia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand.
