Sapphire Foods India reports lower sales for Pizza Hut in Q3
The group called it a ‘disappointing’ quarter.
KFC and Pizza Hut operator Sapphire Foods India reported an average daily sale (ADS) of $495 (₹42K) for Pizza Hut, lower than $567 (₹42K) ADS between April to December 2024, calling it a ‘disappointing’ quarter.
“The performance in the quarter reflects the longer horizon we will need in reviving the brand,” the group said in its press release.
Sapphire Foods delivered revenue of $83.79m (₹7.099b), 13% growth led by KFC India and Pizza Hut Sri Lanka.
Consolidated restaurant-level earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) declined by 1% year-on-year (YoY). The EBITDA margin stood at 12%, down by 1.6 percentage points, or 160 basis points (bps), compared to the same period last year.
Sapphire KFC same-store sales growth (SSSG) trajectory (-1%) continued to improve vs the previous two quarters with flat same-store traffic growth (SSTG). Whilst restaurant revenue grew strongly by 12%, restaurant EBITDA margin came at 15.7% due to lower absolute.
Sapphire Foods operates a total of 963 restaurants as of 31 March 2025.
