Just Eat Takeaway.com founder resigns as CEO
The food delivery service provider was taken private earlier this year.
Just Eat Takeaway.com (JET) founder and CEO Jitse Groen has resigned and will be succeeded by Roberto Gandolfo, effective 1 January 2026, subject to approval by the Dutch Central Bank.
Groen has grown JET from a student-led idea to a major global player in the online on-demand delivery space. His journey began with Thuisbezorgd.nl (the original Takeaway.com), established in a small attic in Enschede in the Netherlands. Through a quarter-century of growth, including the acquisition of Lieferando in 2014 and merger with Just Eat in 2020, Jitse built the company into a global player, actively operating in 16 countries and holding leading positions in many of its largest segments, including the United Kingdom, Germany and the Netherlands.
Meanwhile, Gandolfo is a senior executive and entrepreneur with over a decade of experience in technology and platform businesses. He joined Prosus in 2025 after more than a decade at iFood, where he served as CEO of the Marketplace business. Under his leadership, the platform scaled from 1 million to 120 million profitable monthly orders, reached more than 60 million annual customers, and expanded to a network of 400,000 merchant partners and 400,000 couriers.
Gandolfo is currently Chair of the JET Supervisory Board and Head of Prosus Europe.
Earlier this year, Just Eat Takeaway was bought by internet investor Prosus for $4.2b (€4.1b) in an all cash deal.
