Gong cha exits Singapore ‘temporarily’

The brand plans to reopen in 2026 under a new franchise agreement.

Gong cha has closed all its sites in Singapore but plans to return in 2026 under a new franchise agreement.

Gong cha Global said that it has made the decision not to renew its current agreement with its incumbent Master franchisee, but will relaunch in Singapore in 2026 in partnership with new local franchisees.

Paul Reynish, Global CEO said that Singapore is an important market for the global tea chain, and plans to launch the Gong cha 2.0 in the country soon.

“We believe we’ve cracked the code with Gong cha 2.0, our award-winning technology-led store design. We have seen fantastic results in Japan and South Korea, with customer wait times significantly reduced, higher repeat visits, and overall customer satisfaction levels up. Next year, we’ll bring this concept to Singapore and relaunch our ambitious plans to scale in the market alongside new franchisees,” Reynish said.

Gong cha had 29 sites in Singapore before its exit.
