American fast-casual chain Fatburger returns to Japan
The chain has over 200 restaurants in the world.
Fast-casual burger chain Fatburger has announced that it will open four restaurants in Okinawa over the next five years, marking its return in Japan.
“We see our debut in Okinawa as the first step in our broader growth across the country as we look to win locals over with our custom-built burgers, Fat and Skinny Fries, hand-scooped milkshakes, and more,” Taylor Wiederhorn, Chief Development Officer of FAT Brands said.
The brand has once again partnered with Japanese food and agri-tech company Green Micro Factory Inc. to expand.
Fatburger previously opened its first restaurant with Green Micro Factory Inc. in 2018, in Shibuya. In 26 March 2023, the restaurant was closed and was due to be relocated; however, no alternative location was secured, resulting in the brand’s quiet exit.
Fatburger is operated by FAT Brands Inc., a global franchising company that acquires, develops, and manages a diverse portfolio of restaurant concepts, including quick-service, fast-casual, and casual dining brands like Johnny Rockets, Round Table Pizza, and Twin Peaks.
