foodpanda injects $1.2b into Pakistan’s economy in 2023-2024

It facilitated $264.8m in revenue for restaurants and $34.5m in taxes.

A study by the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) projected that foodpanda contributed about $1.2b (PKR335b) to Pakistan’s economy in 2023 to 2024.

The report noted that orders through the platform facilitated $264.8m (PKR75b) in revenue for restaurants, whilst foodpanda’s operations brought in $34.5m (PKR 9.76b) in taxes.

The company works with over 50,000 delivery riders and numerous entrepreneurs, driving financial inclusion via fintech.

Furthermore, micro-level impacts include 100% income growth for 13,000+ partner restaurants, an average $423 (PKR120k) monthly income for over 7,000 HomeChefs (primarily women), and income increases for 57% of more than 50,000 freelance riders.
