Beverage brand Yakult opens first cafe in Japan

It also has a beauty salon and a gallery.

Beverage brand Yakult has ventured into the cafe business as a way to connect with new consumers.

Called the Yakult Gohonmaru Cafe & Gallery, the cafe is located in Utsonomiya, Japan.

The cafe will offer ice cream, chiffon cakes, tiramisu, and more. All its products will be made with the signature Yakult drink.

Meanwhile, the two-story cafe will also feature a beauty salon, offering cosmetic products made with lactic acid bacteria.

Yakult drinks in Japan and other Asian countries were often delivered by ‘Yakult ladies’ to people's houses however the brand thought it didn’t have enough contact channels for consumers to know about Yakult. To address the issue, it built the cafe as a wellness complex for potential new customers to learn more about its products.
