The Big Table Group narrows net loss to £3.5m in 2024

The annual loss recorded was down from £13m in the preceding year.

The Big Table Group, which operates chains including Banana Tree, Bella Italia, Café Rouge, and Las Iguanas, reduced its annual loss to £3.5m, down from £13m in 2023.

The company reported annual sales of £32.6m, up slightly from £31.6m.

Gross profit rose to £16m from £14m, with gross margin improving to 49.4% from 44.3%.

Adjusted EBITDA rose to £3.9m, compared to £2.2m last year.

On 30 October 2023, the group acquired the shares of The Restaurant Group (UK) Limited (TRGUK) from The Restaurant Group PLC (TRGPLC).

TRGPLC was seeking to exit its non-core brands, and the Big Table Group was keen to acquire the portfolio given value growth opportunities.

TRGUK was acquired via Baltra Bidco Limited, which is an immediate subsidiary of the company.

On 1 November 2023, the name of TRGUK was changed to BTG Leisure Holdings Limited (BTG Leisure).

The acquisition included 74 sites with brands that include Frankie & Benny's and Chiquito.

The consideration was £1, with deal mechanics that included a £7.5m cash injection by TRGPLC into BTG Leisure.
