Papa John’s rolls out 55g protein pizza amidst protein craze
Six in 10 are actively incorporating more protein in their diets.
Papa John’s is experimenting with a protein‑infused pizza as demand rises for snacks and meals packed with protein.
The pizza chain launched the Protein Crust Pizza in a selected restaurant in Atlanta, US, on 21 January, exclusively for Papa Rewards Members.
According to a report by Innova Market Insights, 60% of global F&B consumers report actively incorporating more protein into their diets.
The Protein Crust Pizza is a personal 8-inch pizza packed with up to 55 grams of protein. The pizza is available in a heavy meat version made with sausage, pepperoni, and six different types of cheese that has an estimated 55 grams of protein.
Meanwhile, the Veggie version is made up of mushrooms, green peppers, onions, and the same six-cheese blend and has an estimated 49g of protein.
“What makes this Protein Crust Pizza so special is that the dough alone delivers 23 grams of protein,” said Mark Gabrovic, Papa Johns VP of Culinary. “From there, we layer on premium ingredients that pack the flavour punch and add even more protein.”
