KFC operator Gastronomy to more than double UK restaurants by 2030

The expansion will target the Northwest, Midlands, Shropshire, and Wales.

KFC franchise operator Gastronomy plans to more than double its estate over the next five years after securing HSBC backing.

Gastronomy, which currently runs 44 outlets, aims to add more than 50 new sites, taking its portfolio to over 100 restaurants across the UK by 2030.

The expansion will focus on the Northwest, East and West Midlands, Shropshire, and Wales, with a mix of drive-thrus and restaurants with parking.

The move comes as KFC pushes ahead with a wider £1.5bn investment plan for the UK and Ireland, which includes 500 new restaurants over the next decade, refurbishments of existing sites, and the creation of around 7,000 jobs.

In August, KFC reported UK & Ireland system sales growth of 5% year on year for the second quarter ending 30 June 2025, a rise of 5% on the quarter.

The UK & Ireland account for 6% of KFC sales globally.

Gastronomy opened its first KFC in Aberystwyth in 2007.
