Pret a Manger to debut in South Africa with first store in Johannesburg

South Africa will become Pret’s 20th international market outside of the UK.

Pret A Manger has announced the launch of its first store in South Africa, set to open on 14 February at Johannesburg’s Melrose Arch precinct.

This debut marks Pret’s entry into Africa, making South Africa its 20th international market outside the UK.

“We’re thrilled to bring a touch of Pret to this incredible city while incorporating South African flavours into our menu,” said Pano Christou, CEO of Pret A Manger.

Pret’s Melrose Arch store will feature a curated menu that combines Pret classics with locally inspired items. Exclusive South African items include the Soutvleis Sandwich and the Braaibroodjie Toastie.

Alongside these local creations, Pret South Africa’s menu includes a wide variety of handmade sandwiches, salads, wraps, and breakfast options, as well as Pret’s classic Barista-prepared organic coffees and beverages, organic juices, health shots, teas, smoothies, and iced drinks.
