Starbucks unveils first heritage shophouse cafe in Singapore’s Chinatown
The cafe will offer store-exclusive F&B offerings.
Starbucks has announced the opening of its new cafe located at 37 Smith Street, the first Starbucks outlet in Singapore to be housed within a heritage shophouse.
The new cafe will offer unique food in collaboration with beloved local brand Old Seng Choong and store-exclusive beverages.
According to Starbucks, the cafe is a tribute to Chinese culture, with guests greeted by “星巴克” (Starbucks) on a meticulously crafted signboard synergizing Chinese calligraphy with wood carving by master artists at Yong Gallery, and also on the pillars at the two entrances using the traditional plaster moulding technique. This iconic 星巴克 branding is a first for a Starbucks store in Singapore.
The space also features murals by Singapore-born artist and illustrator Tiffany Lovage that blend elements of Chinese heritage, Chinatown, coffee, and the Starbucks experience.
In another first, the Starbucks 37 Smith Street houses a dedicated retail space, showcasing an exclusive line of merchandise in collaboration with local calligraphy artist JunleFont, amongst others.
