Starbucks Singapore introduces weekly ‘Slowdown Hours’

The initiative introduces softer lighting, music and reflection prompts every Wednesday.

Starbucks Singapore is launching a weekly in-store initiative called Slowdown Hours every Wednesday at 3 PM beginning July 15, as the coffee chain marks its 30th year in the country.

During Slowdown Hours, Starbucks coffeehouses will introduce intentional shifts in atmosphere marked by softer lighting to create a gentle glow. A curated soundtrack will also play to signal the change of pace. Customers will also receive a Slowdown Card, offering prompts for thought, conversation or quiet observation for those who wish to settle in a little longer.

To mark the launch of Slowdown Hours, Starbucks will introduce a Reset Set, inspired by familiar local coffeehouse traditions. The offering features the newly crafted Starbucks Kopi Siew Dai (less sweet) and a Mini Croissant served with a choice of kaya butter or peanut butter, offering a simple way for customers to settle into the hour.

“Thirty years ago, Starbucks introduced the concept of the Third Place to Singapore, a space between home and work where people could gather, linger and connect. Since then, we've watched how our customers have woven Starbucks into their everyday routines, from morning coffees and study sessions to meetings, catch-ups and moments in between,” said Kelly Lim, general manager, Starbucks Singapore.

The initiative will be launched across 120 Starbucks coffeehouses in Singapore until 30 December 2026.
