Chipotle opens 4,000th store in Kansas
The new Manhattan location also includes a Chipotlane.
Chipotle Mexican Grill has opened its 4,000th restaurant, located in Manhattan, Kansas, known as the "Little Apple."
To mark the milestone, members of Chipotle’s executive team and restaurant leadership are scheduled to ring the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange.
The Manhattan location includes a Chipotlane, the company’s drive-thru pickup lane for digital orders.
It also utilises new kitchen equipment designed to increase capacity and reduce preparation and cooking times, including updated rice cookers, a dual-sided plancha, a higher-capacity fryer for chips, and an automated produce slicer.
Chipotle has expanded to 4,000 over the past eight years, an increase of about 70%.
The company expects to open between 315 and 345 new restaurants in 2025, with at least 80% including a Chipotlane.
For 2026, Chipotle projects 350 to 370 openings, including 10 to 15 locations operated by international partners.
The company currently operates more than 100 restaurants outside the US, including 75 in Canada, 28 in Europe, and 11 partner-operated locations in the Middle East.
Chipotle opened its first Chipotlane outside North America in Kuwait, in partnership with Alshaya Group.
The company has also signed an agreement with Alsea, S.A.B. de C.V. to open its first restaurants in Mexico beginning next year.
Separately, Chipotle plans to enter South Korea and Singapore through a joint venture with SPC Group, with initial locations expected to open in 2026.
