Gong cha bets big on Texas with record 50-unit franchise deal
The deal covers expansion across four Texas markets over the next seven years.
Gong cha has signed a 50-unit exclusive area development agreement in Texas with franchise operator Bakers Acres & Cattle Company (BACC), marking the largest direct franchising deal in the tea brand’s history.
The agreement gives BACC development rights for Gong cha locations in four major Texas markets—Austin, Houston, San Antonio, and Dallas—over the next seven years.
The deal comes after Gong cha acquired master franchise rights for 170 US locations across 13 states, including Texas.
The company said the move is part of its broader push to expand its domestic presence through franchise growth.
Gong cha launched its US direct franchising programme about two years ago and has since signed multi-unit development agreements in several markets, including Texas, California, Massachusetts, Arizona, Wisconsin, and Puerto Rico.
The company currently operates more than 240 locations across 23 states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico, and is continuing to pursue partnerships with multi-unit franchise operators as it expands in existing and new markets.
