talabat trials robots for high-rise deliveries in Dubai
The pilot is underway at Dubai Digital Park’s A6 building in Dubai Silicon Oasis.
talabat has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Singapore-based deeptech company QuikBot to pilot autonomous delivery robots for high-rise buildings in Dubai.
The pilot is underway at Dubai Digital Park’s A6 commercial building in Dubai Silicon Oasis, where the companies are testing the technology in a live delivery environment.
Under the model, riders hand orders to a QuikBot robot at a designated point inside the building.
The robot then takes the elevator and delivers the order to the customer’s door.
Customers collect their orders using a one-time password (OTP).
The setup is designed to remove the final stretch of high-rise deliveries from riders’ workload, potentially allowing them to complete more deliveries whilst reducing the time customers spend waiting for orders.
The robots operate through QuikBot’s QuikSync platform, which provides each robot with a cryptographic identity and manages its interactions with buildings and people.
The technology supports QuikBot’s Autonomous Final-Mile Delivery Platform-as-a-Service, which the company said is already being used in live operations with global logistics companies in Singapore and the UAE.
During the pilot, talabat and QuikBot will assess the time savings for riders and how the two companies’ systems work together operationally.
The findings will also inform potential deeper product integration.
The companies will use the pilot’s results to assess whether autonomous delivery robots could be rolled out more widely across talabat’s operations.
