Starbucks Vietnam opens first Signing Store in Ho Chi Minh City
Customers can place orders using tablets to support communication.
Starbucks Vietnam has opened its first Signing Store in Ho Chi Minh City, a coffeehouse designed for the Deaf, hard-of-hearing, and sign language communities.
Located on Cao Thắng Street, the store operates from a French colonial house that has been transformed into a coffeehouse.
Its team includes Deaf and hard-of-hearing baristas wearing the Starbucks green apron.
Customers can place orders using tablets to support communication with Deaf partners, whilst a digital screen in the hand-off area displays order status.
The store features warm wood tones, natural light, and tactile design elements.
It also includes a painting by Deaf artist Linh Đan, reflecting the themes of equity, accessibility, and belonging.
As part of the store’s community initiatives, a percentage of sales will be donated over the next two years to training programmes operated by the Youth Social Work Club.
Starbucks Vietnam said the Signing Store is part of its efforts to strengthen communities, expand economic opportunities, and create positive impact through partnerships with local nonprofit organisations.
To mark the opening, Starbucks Vietnam has also introduced an exclusive merchandise collection available only at Starbucks Cao Thắng.
The collection features artwork inspired by sign language and aims to encourage customers to learn more about Deaf culture, experiences, and stories.
