Deliveroo HOP launches Zero-Waste Bags across the UAE
The bags contain surplus groceries, including fresh produce, bakery items, and pantry staples.
Deliveroo has introduced Zero Waste Bags across its Deliveroo HOP locations in the UAE.
The bags, available daily, contain a selection of surplus items, including fresh produce, bakery goods, and pantry staples.
Contents vary, with seasonal selections added throughout the year.
Prices range from AED 15 to AED 25, with the company stating that the bags are sold at about half the original retail value of the items inside.
Only products that are approaching, but have not reached, their expiry dates are included.
The initiative is part of Deliveroo’s efforts to reduce food waste from its operations whilst making groceries more affordable for customers.
Since its launch, the programme has diverted more than 2,400kg of food from waste, with hundreds of bags sold each week across Deliveroo HOP sites.
Zero Waste Bags forms part of Deliveroo’s global “Full Life” ESG programme, which focuses on reducing food waste and addressing food insecurity.
In the UAE, the company also works with the UAE Food Bank through its Collecteroo initiative to redistribute surplus food and supports donations to Bread for All through its in-app Round-up feature.
